Job Duties:
- Review specifications, read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and reports.
- Independently create concepts, designs and modify existing designs to create new custom machines.
- Create designs using Calculations and analysis, taking responsibility for the work produced.
- Follow all current department standards and work with management to develop new standards and procedures.
- Create and revise assembly drawings, detailed drawings & BOMs.
- Release prints to Production to established department standards.
- Perform machinery testing and debugging, complete testing checklists.
- Maintain and update R&D design book.
- Interface with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
- Work with Plant Manufacturing and other personnel to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and provide technical information.
- Work closely with Electrical/ Controls Engineering in specifying equipment.
- Responsible for the mentoring and coaching of junior, less experienced team members
- Work with the engineering manager to determine schedules of new work and work with the sales team to help facilitate new orders.
Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical and/or Mechatronics
- P Eng. is preferred
- Minimum 10-15 years of direct work experience with designing equipment.
- Strong design skills in industrial machinery design. Ability to independently complete custom machine design from concept to release.
- Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS 2022 (3D), with knowledge of AUTOCAD 2013(2D) and Microsoft Office
- Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic components and popular manufacturers.
- Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware and software.
- General knowledge of electrical automation controls, motor & drive types, sensors.
- Experience with stress and Finite Element analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in technical writing an asset.
- Understanding of production and machine shop processes.
- Understanding of fabrication and assembly processes; previous shop floor experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with choice of materials, treatments and finishes.
- Practical knowledge in machine safety.
- Practical knowledge of GD&T, standards & codes.

- Must hold a valid Driver’s License and Canadian Passport. Travel may be required on a limited basis
